Your recording, your transcript and your corrections are not in any of this. They are read on your device and the audio is never uploaded. What follows is about your visit and what can be written into your browser.
If you do not sign in, we set none
Without an account, this site writes no cookie of its own — not a preference, not an identifier, not a “we have shown you this” flag. Two things it can put on your device are not cookies and are described on Privacy: the speech model your browser caches, and any recording you pressed Keep on this device for.

All three are first-party and strictly necessary for an account you asked for. Signing out removes the session and the flag; so does deleting your account.
Counting page views does not use one
Page views and named steps are counted by a self-hosted Umami collector at analytics.pagefabrica.com. It is cookieless: it stores no identifier in your browser and cannot recognise you on a second visit. It honours Do Not Track.
Google’s advertising can set some
The home page carries advertising from Google AdSense, under the publisher account pub-3015567014793107, in one box at the bottom; the dedicated tool pages carry no ad box or ad loader. When that box is filled, Google’s advertising code runs in your browser and can set and read cookies and similar identifiers there. Those are Google's, not ours: we cannot read them. The ones AdSense commonly writes are __gads and __gpi; Google publishes its own list at business.safety.google/adscookies.
None of it happens unless you scroll to the box: Google’s code is fetched only as the box comes near your screen.
The consent choice, and how to change it
In the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, Google shows a consent message from a Google-certified consent platform before it personalises advertising. We do not run a consent banner of our own, because a home-made one would not be certified and Google would not act on the answer. Refusing personalisation still shows an advertisement, chosen from the page rather than from anything about you. Your answer is stored by Google, not by us; to change it, use the control on Google’s message, or clear this site’s cookies and answer again.
Refusing all of it costs you nothing here
There is no cookie wall on this site. Block advertising, refuse every cookie, turn off third-party scripts: the tool records, transcribes, plays back, corrects and exports exactly the same. Only signing in needs the three cookies above, and signing in is optional.
